Exeter is governed by two local authorities – Exeter City Council and Devon County Council. For more information on the services they each offer to local residents.
Currently, Exeter City Council, under plans announced by the Government, has applied to take on all responsibility for the running of Exeter’s affairs. Devon County Council has now submitted a plan to abolish Exeter City Council, in order to run the affairs of the entire County, including Exeter but excepting the existing Unitary Authorities of Torbay and Plymouth.
